I do not currently have a pattern of this type. Dirk & Karen Boelman has a great RV pattern. You will have to search his site or even shoot him an email. Dirk is one of the foremost scrollsaw pattern designers in the country.,

A pattern for a RV. Take a photo of the RV. Load it
into photoshop on your computer. Then change it from
a color photo to a black and white. Then remove any
details you do not want. Then add what you want like
The family name.

I do like the new cross. I will probably make the solid version first. At this time I am not sure about the overlay, but will make it sometime later. I would like to see more like this.

need to cut out over 1000 foam 5″ x 5″ butterflies for a non profit. I would like to use a scroll saw. Can I and have any hints on how to do it. We usually cut them out using sissers but that takes forever.

Just watched the video from Fine Woodworking. They have a cople of good points but a lot of bad ones. Like you, I have watched Youtube woodworking videos and have learned a lot. Often the Youtube folks have a very simple straight forward fix or idea that takes an ëxpert”or magazine 6 pages to explain and often the explaination is more compliacated or involved than necessary. Like the old addage, “I ask for the time not how to build the watch.”
I took a piece of 1/4 inch plywood and framed it on the bottom to fit tightly to my table. Then you can apply a piece of formica to the top, place on your saw and mark where blade goes, drill hole of your choice in the top. You now have a slick top that does’t need wax and it is a zero clearance to keep small parts from falling through.

Just a short note to say I enjoyed the interview with Fred Wilson. While there on youtube, I saw the corel draw trim tutorials. Learned just a little more about corel, which I’ve used for years. Always learning more. Thank you for everything you do.

Purchased used scroll saw and found that the blade in it (still good)had the teeth pointing upward…struck me as not only odd but totally counterintuitive as well….I have run band saws in every place from shipyards to foundries and never once saw one with the teeth oriented upwards…but maybe with the scroll saw it is different for whatever reason. I have heard that some operators prefer to have the teeth upwards—-can someone who is knowledgeable on the subject expound on this. I spent hours on the phone this morning trying to get a straight answer from hardware stores and cabinet shops all over the place.
They didn’t know.
Your instincts are correct. There are very few times when a blade should be pointed up. When cutting on the down stroke, the blade will pull the wood down towards the table making the cutting easier and smoother. You came to the right place, please look around and be sure to download the free patterns.

My husband met someone at the Gwinnett County fair or a festival, I can not remember which one, that does scroll work and has a class on Monday nights in Lawrenceville, Ga. Would that person be you? If so, what do I need to do to sign him up as a surprise for christmas?

Nice site. Do you have any plans for a homemade wooden peddle scrollsaw? I was at a craft show a while back and seen a scroller making small animals for the kids. He was peddling his butt off for the kids but having alot of fun.

I just came across your site and saw the videos on YouTube, Nice job. I thought I would share an alternative to scroll sawing, I just built a CHEVALET(kind of a scroll saw) its used to cut veneers aranged in packets to make Marquetry. I like it because you have more control over what the saw blade does plus the satisfaction of building it myself. Keep up the great site and I love the videos.

The easiest and least expensive way would be sandwich wrap or ziploc bags. I use a shrink wrap machine and then use a hairdryer to shrink the wrap for a tight fit. I should do another video of this process, kind of hard to explain. Shrink wrap machines can be found at most warehouse supply companies such as Uline or Global. I found mine at a yard sale for 20.00, great find.
