I like this setup of dust collection.

Note:  this is an overseas saw but looks like the Hitachi sold here in the US.

Matt Zarling, a frequent reader, has designed a great

dust collector. Note the timer and stand.

Thank you for sharing this project.  To see more  of Matt’s work…

  • Bernard W says:

Hi, can anyone help? I need a budget scroll saw with one particular feature, I need to be able to turn the blade 90 degrees so the teeth point to the side of the saw. All the newer cheap models I’ve seen seem to lack this feature. I need to be able to make long, continuous cuts longer than the arm of the scroll saw. I can’t afford a separate bandsaw for this, and I will mostly use the scroll saw for smaller pieces and interior cuts anyway. But without this feature, the work I want to do will be much harder. Can anyone suggest a budget model under about $200 that can do this?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Sami says:

Rigid should see if they can isltanl a sawstop braking system to make it safer, Our woodshop still uses the rigid for dadoes and stuff but thats all. The sawstop is our main table saw now which had its first braking system usage yesterday. It is a fine machine. I think all table saws made now should have this braking system. #1 sawstop would make money from the demand and #2 other saw companies would still make money with safer machines. Just would have to modify the machine a bit.
